About

Alexander Craven’s award-winning work represents a bravely human approach to stories that explore modern identity and relationships. His films are often music-driven, darkly comedic and include a psychological element that unlocks empathy in fresh ways.

Alex’s passion for cinema was sparked by his grandfather, a jazz musician and he worked briefly in eye research before deciding to make movies full time. In college, he helped start a private satellite based IP-TV network that quickly grew to over 350 nightlife locations, delivering custom content and advertising. He then worked for Gore Verbinski’s Blindwink during RANGO, and attended ArtCenter College of Design for his MFA, where his directing work won the departmental scholarship both years.

Recently, his first feature TALKING BACKWARDS entered development, he wrote & directed a teaser for a musical TV series, and produced a concert featuring Anne-Sophie Mutter and John Williams.

My thing has always been movies that dig into what makes us human in dynamic and engaging ways without losing a sense of wonder. I have a passion for protagonists on the outskirts, social justice, and finding empathy in the pursuit of having a good time. A good movie should feel like music. A great movie can help us see in new ways… light and dark, beautiful and grotesque. Seriously kidding, I don’t care much for the stuff in-between.
